Clan Maitland Society of North America





The Clan Maitland Society of North America Academic Scholarship Award is given in recognition of academic achievement and interest in Schottish hertiage.  It seeks to promote academic excellence among clan mambers in good standing of the North American Society, thier children and grandchildren. 

The Academic scholarship is a $250.00 unrestricted one-time cash award for college/university schooling.  The student must have completed thier freshman year.  The award will be given to someone at sophomore standing or higher.  The scholarship check will be sent directly to the school.  A student can only win the award once.

A three member Scholarship Team will select the winner from all of the applicants based on thier academic records and thier interest of thier Scottish Heritage.  The student will write a 1-2 page essay addressing any aspect of thier family life, Clan Maitlad and/or Scottish Heritage.  The information included in the application will complete the evaluation.

Applications must be received by October 31st.  Applicants will be notified that thier application was received.  The winner will be notified by November 28th.  Academic records and other personal data will be kept confidential by the judges.
